Cardiff and Miller’s 2012 installation of “The Murder of Crows” is something I’ve mentioned before, but as a few people have mentioned it to me via social networking – I thought it was worth re-posting.
Set in the Drill Hall, New York, the installation uses the idea of a crow funeral and ambisonics to audible demonstrate the phenomenon where crows will gather around a fallen brother for up to 24 hours to mourn the loss.
Using a 98 speaker array – with 800 tracks of audio – the experience is a captive one.
If anyone would like to ask me how to do this in Scotland,.. I would be more than happy to offer my services. I like large collections of loudspeakers. And crows.
